A History of Beautiful Jewellery
In the late 1980s, after travelling extensively throughout Europe and the US, David Worth recognised the potential for an Auckland boutique that combined quality jewellery with unique, modern, wearable designs. At the time, the local jewellery scene consisted largely of mass-produced, traditional designs that had long lost their spark; David envisioned a boutique that celebrated exceptional craftsmanship with bold, modern designs.
The beginning of Jewellers Workshop
In 1987, Jewellers Workshop was born in the historic Century Arcade on High Street, Auckland. To bring his vision to life, David installed jewellers' benches in the shop’s front window, allowing customers to witness the jewellery-making process firsthand. This unique concept not only inspired the name 'Jewellers Workshop,' but also introduced an open-plan workshop design that endures to this day. By partnering with local jewellers, David offered clients the opportunity to create custom-made pieces, as well as offering one-of-a-kind designs available off the shelf.
After nearly 40 years in business,
Jewellers Workshop remains a fixture on High Street, moving to a larger premises at number 50 in 2008. David is still at the helm, bringing his decades of knowledge and expertise to the team. His daughter, Caitlin, joined the business in 2012 and now serves as the Design Director, shaping the future of Jewellers Workshop with her own creative vision. Together, they lead a tight-knit team of jewellers and designers committed to maintaining the high standards and personal touch that have defined Jewellers Workshop since its inception.
In a world of mass production, Jewellers Workshop is committed to creating thoughtfully designed, one-of-a-kind, and boutique production jewellery. Every piece is crafted on-site in our workshop, with the process meticulously overseen in-house from start to finish.
Our 'Workshop' offers a carefully curated selection of ready-to-wear jewellery, including diamond rings, earrings, gemstone and sapphire rings, necklaces, and bracelets. We invite you to try on, feel, and discover the pieces that resonate with you.
Our bespoke service is very much a collaborative journey between client, designer, and jeweller. This is made even more engaging by our open-plan workshop, where skilled artisans craft at their benches in full view, alongside cabinets displaying their creations.
This transparency extends to our customer service. We provide a relaxed environment where customers receive honest advice, along with the time and space they need to make confident, informed decisions.
